Placement Procedures

Our Job Placement procedure:

 

  1. Counselor reviews the file notes, job description, physician reports and evaluations, and other pertinent information.

 

  1. A Vocational Diagnostic Interview of the injured worker is scheduled and we determine the types of jobs that he or she is capable of performing using Transferable Skills Analysis and considering the physical or mental capabilities.  Vocational testing when it is appropriate.

 

  1. A Labor Market Survey is conducted to identify appropriate industries, employers and types of jobs in the area.

 

  1. Résumé is prepared and claimant is given job searching skills information and coaching.

 

  1. Employment search is conducted using all available resources, such as: personal contact with employers, telephone contact with prospective employers, Internet job search, Department of Rehabilitative Services, Richmond Career Advancement Center, Virginia Employment Commission search, local newspapers.

 

  1. Weekly or biweekly job search appointments are scheduled.

 

  1. Counsel the client about effective methods of finding

employment and stress their responsibility in the process.  Looking        

     for work means, persistently looking for job openings, applying &

interviewing.

 

  1. Client is taken by the counselor to prospective employers to complete applications, submit résumés and attend job interviews. Counselor make contact with potential employers where applications are pending.

 

  1. Injured worker is given follow up instructions with contacts being verified by counselor.

 

  1. When a job offer is received, counselor prepares job description for treating physician’s approval.

 

  1. Counselor confirms employment start date and salary.
